Sunward Ivy (GMTK 2026)
Check my other GMTK 2026 submission aswell!
https://alimoghimi.itch.io/slime-factory
This is one of two projects I worked on and submitted for the GMTK 2026 Game Jam. It’s a 2D endless-runner type game where the sun is setting, and an ivy stem is slowly trying to reach the top of a tall building. staying in the shadows for too long will kill the plant, your life in on a countdown, the sunset.
This game was developed in 1 day, The game in its current state is an endless runner, our game was originally supposed to be level-based with an ending for each stage, showing the actual countdown timer with a happy ending, but a lack of time didn't allow us to finish that.
Compared to our other entry the game is very incomplete, but it still shows the vision, a soft artsy game. Follow thispage so you can see updates on this game after the jam.
I’m looking forward to your feedback!
Controls:
Mouse Movement: The Ivy stem follows the mouse.
Gameplay:
- The ivy stem always follows the mouse.
- Another tower's shadow is slowly projecting onto the building. Always stay ahead of it, touching it instantly kills you.
- Avoid staying in shadows cast by things like windows, passing birds, and adjacent cranes.
